Disabled Gmail Account

Recommended Posts

The other night I checked my email and saw like 30 undelivered emails that I never sent and when I logged out I couldnt get back in. Gmail was telling me my account was temporarily disabled and to send a verification code to my cellphone.. I sent Gmail emails from a different account and they still have not replied. I tried the verification code also and get an error. Has this happened to anyone else before?

Yes, this just happened to me. Your account has been hijacked, either because someone has hacked it, or someone has spoofed your name off a mailing list, etc. You need to fill out the verification form, give them a cellphone number. When you get the verification code and have access to the account again, the FIRST thing you should do is change the account password.

Good luck!

But NOT from your current computer until you've verified that it is not infected.

Uh oh, this G-mail issue is exactly what happened on my wife's lap-top 2 days ago. She obtained her verification code and re-established her G-mail account. Then re-set her password using her laptop. Upon reading your advice we again re-set her password using a desk-top PC. However, another problem started on her laptop almost immediately after the G-mail incident. She now has some kind of malware (rogue ?) that seems to be called 'defense center'. It's super annoying and in addition seems to have disabled the 'task manager' function.

We downloaded the Malwarebytes 1.46 and it completes the scan but a window pops up. The window states 'the scan has successfully completed' and contains a 'close' icon. However, when you close it everything disappears. You then have to re-start the scan all over again. We've done this 4 times with the same result. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, do you think her G-mail account is safe now ?
