Can't remove Antivirus 2008

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I read your instructions for posting logs. I've got all the software, but this stupid virus has locked up the interent and I can't use the PandaActive Scan on the infected computer. I did run a Hijack This log (below). Is there any way around running the Panda Scan? Can my computer be saved? (sorry for the melodrama but i've got files I really need on it and I can't access any of my drives, my start menu or the task manager!)

Any help is sooooo appreciated.

Cheers,

Trish

Hi Trish and welcome to Malwarebytes. As the instructions say, begin with the removal scan first then post those logs and the HJT log.

Hi Jean,

Unfortunately the system is completely locked. I can't install spybot nor MBAM. The only thing that it will let me run is HJT. I've tried installing from Disk, Stick, dirct from the net...everything i can think of. I can't get into the task manager to shut down the process either. I fixed what HJT came up with from the previous scan and this is all that is left after re-running it:

O23 - Service: DvpApi (dvpapi) - Authentium, Inc. - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Command Software\dvpapi.exe (file missing)

O23 - Service: InstallDriver Table Manager (IDriverT) - Macrovision Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\11\Intel 32\IDriverT.exe (file missing)

O23 - Service: Intel NCS NetService (NetSvc) - Intel

You fixed things? Not a good plan Trish. Very likely you have done serious system damage. Nothing you deleted is malware. What made you think you should delete them?

I fixed what HJT came up with from the previous scan and this is all that is left after re-running it:

What previous scan? HJT does not automatically identify malware, it allows us to see locations know to be where malware installs to. Never should you randomly delete entries.

O24 - Desktop Component 0: Privacy Protection - file:///C:\WINDOWS\privacy_danger\index.htm <====== That is a bad entry. At this point, I am reluctant to continue since I have no idea what you have actually done. System Restore may be an option for you. Try and restore to a point before you became infected.
