OMG - I have been fighting malware and viruses (mostly malware) for the last 3 weeks - I am computer literate but not a techie - I even spent $100 ( US) twice during this period to have my computer cleaned up by PlumChoice (company that cleans up malware problems) - there must be some deep infection remaining - Prior to all this originally only had anti-virus protecton (McAfee Security Suite) - mistakenly thought it also included malware protection - sooo I downloaded malwarebytes free version - also today downloaded Spybot. I've been running scans (both full and quick scans) several times a day for at least the last couple weeks. Something is not being detected and keeps "reinventing" itself. Ran the spybot scan after which I rec'd message saying Microsoft.Windows Security Center_disabled - not knowing what this meant I did search on Internet Explorer to see if I could find out info - clicked on website (supposedly safe one) and started getting all these poison pen messages/warnings - there are two icons on my desktop now (Data Protection Support and Data Support) despite doing remove programs thru control panel. Also during scan dialogue box says: "Uncertified Malwarebytes AntiMalware_is1 antivirus software detected on your comuter. You need to remove Malwarebytes AntiMalware_is1 antivirus software for correct operation of the data protection. Attn: If you don't remove Malwarebytes the performance of your computer will dramatically degrade - Press OK to remove" - which I did not. I turned off my computer and then restarted. Also my Malwarebytes logs are not being saved in the right place. One more thing - when I type in web addresses I'm redirected to other sites - not the desired one. I usually have to type in address several times before I'm directed to desired website. This also happens when I click on supposedly safe links after during a search. HELP!!! I'M AT MY WITS END!!

Hello cqrammie2 and welcome to malwarebytes.org

As we don't work on Malware removal in the general forum and since Data Protection is a Rogue, I suggest the following

Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help.

If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

Thank you
