IE8 will not start...

Is that a new "behavior" ? Did it just begin to happen?

Has MBAM been finding infections?

general question: Your version/edition of Windows is ??

Invest the time and effort into having MBAM do a Full scan of your system (after first, closing all open apps & after starting an UPDATE run of MBAM). Make sure you get all clean result.

Please, when starting a reply, only use the ADDReply button at bottom right of forum window.

See what Event Viewer has in it's log. Select Start button/ select Run , then type in

eventvwr.msc <Enter>

-- or Go to Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.

Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings.

check in Event Viewer for any other error messages that occurred at or nearly at the same time as this one.

Right-click on My Computer and select Manage. Click on the + to expand the Event Viewer category to show the 3 or 4 subcategories.

Browse through the System and Application categories and check out any entries there with date and time stamps that correspond to your error.

How much RAM does the system have?

I upgraded my XP Pro system to 1.5GB RAM and it works much better than when it had only 768MB RAM.
