mbam error load database (0,48)

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have tried searching for a solution to my problem, but have been unable to find one.

The error first started as error: 703 (0, 48)

Then I uninstalled Malwarebytes

Restarted my computer

used mbam clean

restarted again

downloaded the latest update

as it was connecting to the internet, the error switched to the one in the topic

This was all with my antivirus (Avira and Threatfire) disabled. My Firewall is Comodo and it was on.

Thank you.

With thanks to mountaintree16 -

Please try this first -

Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.

Double click on the ccsetup file to start the installation of the program.

Select your language and click OK, then click Next.

Read the license agreement and click I Agree.

Click Next to use the default install location. Click Install then click Finish to complete installation.

Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.

On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted.

(If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).

If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.

Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."

deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours."

Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.

Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Registry" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items for removal, which can cause issues with other programs.

After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

Additionally, BEFORE running CCleaner for the first time, check the Windows portion (first tab) to uncheck anything you do not wish to have cleared.

For example, you may not wish to have your Recycle Bin cleared.

Then, click on the "Applications" tab and uncheck anything you may not want cleared there as well (for example, your AV. I accidentally cleared my AVG logs the first time I ran it,

Not all AV's will show up here, however, it does not hurt to check. I don't think that Avira does but make sure first if you don't' want scan etc... records cleared.

Thank You - :)

EDIT - Disable Comodo for now -

OK, if MBAM still will not run even if you have disabled Comodo, Threatfire and Avira, we will try something experimental.

Please try this:

  • Click on Start and select Control Panel
  • Open Add/Remove Programs
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable Comodo, Threatfire and Avira and download MBAM v1.44 from here (Click on Free user)
  • Unzip the file and install MBAM v1.44. Start MBAM v1.44 then update to MBAM v1.46 using the 'Update' tab > 'Check for Updates' method.
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

Please let me know if anything has changed. :)

At this stage, as nothing seems to be working, I think it would be a good idea to have one of the expert helpers check your system for possible undetected malware.

If you would like a malware removal expert to give you personal assistance, please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic in the Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs forum here. If you cannot complete any of the steps, just post a NEW topic here and describe the problems you are having.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please do not worry if you are not 'technically minded', the expert helpers will give you clear, concise instructions which are easy to follow.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

If your system is found to be malware free, please make a new post in this forum to continue the troubleshooting process.
