web pages opens late

when i connect to the internet, the connection takes place but the web pages dont open instantly and the Internet explorer gives a error message but after 5-8 mins the pages start opening up without any probs. I am using IE8. could you pl offer some help??

How about CPU speed and type plus RAM amount and operating system and Service Pack level.

I have a few suggestions, some may help, none may help.

1) Delete your temporary internet files, make sure your cache is set very low (like 120-200 MB).

2) Disable add-ons you might not need, or ones you have no idea what they're for.

3) Check for malware

4) If you haven't, upgrade to IE8

cpu speed is 1.60ghz, Ram is 1.21gb and operating symtem is windows xp home edition service pack 3.

Thanks for the advice and help. The error message is that internet explorer is not able to open the page. I have tried the options given by you but as of now they have not helped.
