Need some help

Recommended Posts

I've been trying pretty much anything I can think of to get rid of different errors i keep getting on my computer and it seems not matter what i do i cant get them to go away. I've scanned my computer with avg antivirus and norton anti-virus. I've also been using spybot, adaware, ewido, registry mechanic, and a couple other various programs. I thought that I had been fixing the problem in the past by using these programs, but it seems that after a while they reoccur worse than before. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's my hijackthis log.

You are running two(or more) Anti-Virus programs..while one is a MUST have...running more than one is NEVER ACCEPTABLE.

They will 'battle' for control of your system and resources; causing slowdown, errors and shut down. Choose one and uninstall the other(s).

First of all, you will need to print out this post and/or save a copy as a text file in Notepad; that way you have a hard copy of these instructions; you can not have IE/Firefox/any browser open during the fix

You have ad-aware's ad-watch running on your machine and that is good.

But prior to doing the fix below with hijackthis it needs to be turned off.

Please do the following.

Open AdAware Se.

Go to AdWatch User Interface.

Go to Tools and Preferences.

At the bottom of the screen you can see two checkable items called Active and Automatic.

Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it

Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically

Uncheck those boxes.

Disable SpywareGuard:

Right click the running icon of Spywareguard, it will open the program.

Then go to Menu, File, Exit.

Then confirm the program is closed.

Remember when we have completed cleaning your machine to turn them back on.

Please download Ewido Anti Malware, it is a free version of the program.

  1. Install ewido security suite
  2. When installing the program, under "Additonal Options" uncheck...
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu

[*] Launch ewido, there should now be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.

[*] The program will now open to the main screen.

[*] When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.

[*] You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files:

  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
  • Then click on Start Update.

[*] The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

(the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")

[*] Close Ewido

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Ewido manual updates
