Update Error Code

Recommended Posts

Tony,

I use Avast 4.8 Home Edition for Anti-Virus

Anti Spyware by CA, Inc Version 9.1.0.22, engine version 5.6.9.5, sig version 5/14/2010

Personal Firewall by CA Inc Version 9.1.0.38, engine ver 1.2.276

OS Sys is Win XP Pro SP3

all updates available have been installed

I'm not sure, but I do know my computer is running very slow. I have minimal start up programs and processes.

I also have SpyBot and Ad-Aware that I use occasionally. I know it's overkill but stuff seems to get thru on occasion.

Thanks for all the help! :)

@Sherrie

Would you mind telling what anti-virus / internet security/ firewall (and what version they are) and other security software are on your system?

And one more question: do you think is there any malware/ virus present in your system?

@Dallas Michael

To avoid possible confusion, please make a new topic, and state the anti-virus / internet security/ firewall (and what version they are) and other security software your system is using in that topic.

Thank you.

Regards,

Tony.

Please go to My Controls then Edit Signature in Personal Profile to add information about your system like my signature so that pertinent information can be offered by helpers.

I do not use anything from CA and have not used Spybot S&D nor Ad-Aware since using Malwarebytes.

I use avast! V5.0.545 on my systems.

I wasn't using Spybot or AdAware but since I can't get the updates I have resorted to have both of them operational.

In most cases this error typically indicates that you may have some type of infection that is blocking the update.

First try going to Control Panel, Regional and Language Options and verify that your Date, Time, Time Zone and Region are all set correctly. If the settings are correct or do not stop the error then please continue below.

I would recommend that you follow the advice below and allow someone with experience in this area to assist you in scanning your system for potential root kits or other types of infections.
