Hi folks, I apologise if this sounds like a dumb question but I was just wondering whether Malwarebytes has ever been threatened with legal action by malware distributors if they didn't remove genuine malware from their database?

Also, regarding the False Positive section of the forums, isn't it possible that malware authors could just post asking Malwarebytes to remove a geniune detection saying it is a false positive?

I suppose this question could also be applied to any anti-malware, anti-virus vendor.

Any thoughts?

There isn't any reason to discuss this in open forums.

Suffice it to say all security vendors face this issue at some point or another.

This isn't really possible. They have to first show the file is legit, and even then, in some cases if the file too closely resembles malware, we won't adjust the detection, though we certainly try to the best that we can.
