Unable to suppress unwanted malware

Recommended Posts

All:

I had installed a Chinese to English popup translation utility from the following site: http://cidian.youdao.com/. The utility is called Youdao. I subsequently uninstalled the utility, ran Malewarebytes to clean out any occurrences, and then used regedit to get rid of any remaining references to the utility. There are no more Youdao files or directories on this computer (Vista Home).

Nevertheless, a Malewarebytes screen pops up from several times a day saying: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware has detected a malicious process attempting to start and has blocked the execution attempt. Please select an option below:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\YOUDAO\DESKDICT2\YODAODICT.EXE

(Adware .Toolbar)

Disable Protection, Ignore, or Quarantine.

(Please see attachment)

I should mention that when I first installed this program I inadvertently installed a Youdao toolbar on IE7 but I have since uninstalled it.

I would like advice to two things: 1) I don't want that screen to pop up at all. I would prefer that Malwarebytes simply suppress the attempt and not alert me about it; and 2) how can I tell Malwarebytes to permanently Quarantine this attempt so that it does not appear.

Thanks very much.

Best regards,

R. Singer

Hi singer - Welcome to the forum -

Below is a quote from our FAQ section -

How can I add an IP so it won't be detected and can access a site I need to?

Visit the site and incur an IP block. Then right-click on the Malwarebytes system-tray icon after the block notification appears, and choose Add to Ignore List.

You may still have traces of that infection in your system - Our experts can check this or you can contact support (linked below) for help -

Malwarebytes is trying to prevent the problem from actually opening, so it seems there is something remaining -

As we don't work on Malware removal or diagnostics in the general forums, please follow these instructions to get more assistance -

Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

Thank You - :)
