please help, this is first time posting here but i have read articles hear before to solve problems, but i have a good one now. i was updateing a friends (with dialup) comp. Win XP pro. it only had SP1 so i hooked up to download sp2 +3. he didnt have anti virus so i put AVG on it. it installed but would not update( said bad binary batch) sorry didnot copy any info at this point. so i put mbam on it. it installed but would not start. mind you the computer is not showing any signs of virus( ie: rougue spyware screens, fake intruder warnings, copyright fines, etc. ) so i treated like virus starrted by running rkill would not start, or sometimes would get dos screen then just dissappear. ran rootrepeal, wont start or will get to first screen ,where yopu would select file and scan, then it will dissapear. in task manager process lsass.exe keeps showing activity off and on constantly and also process csrss.exe is acting same. when i had connected to my network, even when auto update was not running my transmit on my modem would be showing activity but i could never find any appliocations running. am frustrated because i know something is going on but i cant find it. will do whatever actions are suggested and post what is required, am slightly better than novice user but no tech guy. please help. thanks

Hello toddskins7, and welcome to malwarebytes.org

malwarebytes.org has a team of experts who will give you free help to fix any malware related problems on your system. But we can only work on malware related problems in the Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs forum, not in the other general forums.

If you would like a malware removal expert to give you personal assistance, please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic in the Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs forum here. If you cannot complete any of the steps, just post a NEW topic here and describe the problems you are having.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please do not worry if you are not 'technically minded', the expert helpers will give you clear, concise instructions which are easy to follow.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

If you follow the expert helper's instructions you should be up and running again pretty soon. :)
