Version 1.16 protection problem

Recommended Posts

Since I updated to v1.16 this morning the program has not been working good for me. I can not get my choices under the "Protection"-tab to stick. The program will not longer start with windows, and the updates don't happen when I want them to. It's like nothing of my config is saved anymore.

Is there any solution to this? If I can't use the registered functions, what was the point of registering at all?

Forgot to mention: I uninstalled the program completely and re-installed it. No change.

I've already mentioned a similar issue in our Experts section. I have not recieved a reply, so we will have to wait for Marcin to take a look at it, and do some testing.

Your issue is a little more advanced than the one I noticed though. The real-time monitor is loading on startup for me, but the checkboxes are not checked in the protection section.

Reguardless, Marcin will start working on a fix for this as soon as he hears about it.

It doesn't seem like I can find any Experts section. Is it unavailable for newcomers perhaps?

Only certain people can even see the experts section. It's where we discuss MBAM development and issues we find while testing.

If so, please tell me if you find any solution for this.

No, there is no fix yet. I have sent Marcin a text message, but I do not know if he is near his computer, so I do not know if he has been able to take a look at it yet. Aside from you, I'm the only other one so far who seems to have noticed this issue.

Don't worry, we will post more info for you when it becomes available.

Marcin partially fixed the issue while I was at lunch. He's still working on getting the protection to activate properly so that it automatically starts after a reboot. With luck he should have a beta available for testing shortly, and then we can roll out version 1.17 to fix this issue.

Thank you for your patience. wink_happy.png

At this point Marcin has worked around the issue. When 1.17 goes final, the monitor will work again. If the monitor is not already running, then you have to click the "Start Protection" button to get the "Start with Windows" setting to work, but other than that everything is working fine.

The issue will be completely fixed once the developer who works on the real-time monitor has a chance to disect it, and find a way to simplify the autostart settings detection.

Right now Marcin is waiting on other beta testers who had issues with restarting and the dreaded BSoD during a full scan. Since the full scan takes some time to complete, the public release of 1.17 is waiting until they can confirm that the issue is fixed.

The new version is installed and seem to have my problems fixed. Tnx!

There's one thing thou... whatever I do within the program rewards me with a "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Protection Module is now protecting your computer."-prompt. This seem to cause some kind of conflict, because I was prompted with a "Module Already running"-promt and then the program quit on me.

When I restart the program, protection disabled.

You may need to restart your computer after enabling protection and clicking the "Start Protection" button. First just try enabling protection (place a check in the "Start with Windows" box), starting the protection by clicking the button, and then close MBAM and re-open it.

You may also need to uninstall MBAM, and then download and install 1.17. You can get it from here.

I've just updated MBAM via built in updater, but MBAM 1.1.7 hanged.

I supposed 'cause of KIS 2009 I installed today, at first.

Then I rebooted and everything seems to work fine

Must I download ver 1.1.7 and have a fresh installation?

Ops I forgot to say I did not noticed the issue you talk, and I MBAM in pay mode

I'm sorry for my poor english, I hope you'll be able to understand me

many thanks in advance

It's a no-go.

I tried all your suggestions, in that order.

Exactly the same problems I described a post up. Module already running, then the program exits and when I start it again protection is disabled.

And there I thought all those hours we put into testing had finally proven the issue resolved.

Do you have any other security software installed? Maybe there's a weird conflict with something else.
