weird thing on firefox by ccleaner

Recommended Posts

Hmm that's strange. That's never happened to me.

Maybe try uninstalling & reinstalling CCleaner.

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling & reinstalling Firefox (make sure you save your book marks and any settings just in case, although when you uninstall it asks if you want to retain your bookmarks so you should be safe).

Do a search for the "urlclassifier3.sqlite" file and check how big it is as it can get corrupted.

With FF closed you can delete that file which will be rebuilt when you next start FF.

Mozillaline Article

Here I turn off FF's inbuilt security and delete both the urlclassifier3.sqlite and urlclassifier2.sqlite files which are rebuilt and sit at an unused size of 32 kb.

Not saying anyone should do the same as I like to surf anywhere without hindrance including malware laden sites.

coconutnut,

Have you tried running ATF cleaner first? (click to download if you don't have it already)

How to use & about page:

http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=c...5&Itemid=25

Do you have any reason to believe that you may have been infected recently?

it does not freeze there, but appears everytime i run ccleaner. installed and uninstalled ccleaner and still the same thing.

Sorry, I thought it must be freezing there looking at your screenshot.

Uncheck all FF cleaning options in CCleaner and see if it runs to completion.

Then enable one FF option at a time and run CCleaner and see how it goes.

Here are a couple of things which may help.

In CCleaner:

(1) Un-tick the 'Compact Databases' box under 'Applications' > 'Firefox/Mozilla'.

(2) Under 'Options' > 'Settings'. Select 'Normal file deletion' instead of 'Secure file deletion'. You only need to select 'Secure file deletion' if you want CCleaner to physically overwrite the entire file that it is deleting.

CCleaner should run a lot faster of you do these two things.

Looks to be an infection in that area. Probably might want that checked out.

If CCleaner is freezing on that spot, then possibly an infection is avoiding interrogation or deletion.

i ran mbam full scan and it came up with this

i do not really mind it taking a long time....i was wondering what that is?

coconutnut,

Typically only a QUICK scan is needed, just so you know for the future :(

As for the results found in your scan, those items are actually in the system restore area of your computer, and as far as I understand cannot harm your computer unless you use an infected restore point.
