MBAM.exe missing from file

Recommended Posts

Hi All - my son's HP notebook is infected with some sort of dreaded Malware. This bastard appears to be a clever one too. I followed some advice I found on a forum (bleeping computer) last night and downloaded Malwarebytes (MWB) and another program on a separate computer put it on a thumb drive and installed it to the infected computer. The other program reg.exe? let's you install MWB or prevents the virus from stopping the install. Anyhow the malware apparently sees this coming and promptly defends against the install by leaving you unable to launch the program MBAM.exe - or even finding it. I have seen plenty of differing advice ranging from renaming MBAM.exe to installing in safe mode - but I really want to know what the people who write MWB recommend. After all they must be aware this virus tries to stop neophytes like myself from ripping it out by the roots and beating it to death? Any hoo - any advice on the best way to get around this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks mate that worked a charm! I had to download the stealth version of MBAM.exe as the nasty little bastard malware sees it coming and deletes it straight off the memory stick! Clever little sucker isn't it. Once I had malwarebytes installed and the disguised executable file placed in the program folder I could click on it and the program ran like a charm - found a couple of hundred nasties and then bopped them on the head - Love it!!! Great program, terrific support Just wanted to say thanks!!!

Hi Again -

Now , Always keep the program updated , as there can be 2-3 updates each day - Always scan every 2-3 days and update prior to each scan -

That is why we now have a paid version that scans and updates every day automatically -

With those infections it would be a good $25 investment for a Lifetime license -

Thanks - :)
