I live in an older house, so it seems are lights go out quite often.

Ours isn't too old but eh lightbulbs go out. At least we have a non-spring bed so I can stand on it to change the bulb, yay! Otherwise it would be stretching and hoping not to fall off the chair, lol.

You did not mention the 15 unionists that claim it is their job and any work carried out by a non unionist will leave the house black banned for 12 months or until the problem will go to arbitration to sort this out -
