Recently got this error trying to update Malwarebytes. The real problem is, I followed the guide at http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...mp;#entry166361 but to no avail, I also came accross another step-by-step tutorial that asked me to go into control panel and internet options but the thing is, I'm running my OS in safe mode and the internet options isn't in my control panel, I've got Windows Vista if that helps. The reason I'm running it on safe mode is because I got this damn "Antivirus Soft" malware that prevents me from opening any .exe files.

What can I do?

Thanks.

Hello iiiiiiid, and welcome to malwarebytes.org

It is not advisable to run Malwarebytes in safe mode when removing Antivirus Soft. You can install it in safe mode, but you should not run it in safe mode.

The exe file hijack you have should still allow you to run certain filenames, such as iexplore.exe or firefox.exe. So, first of all, please try to precisely follow the Antivirus Soft removal tutorial here:

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=39312

If this is not successful, please print out, read and follow the directions here:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9573

Try to complete all the steps, but you can skip any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here:

If your computer is un-bootable and you cannot run any of the steps, just post a description of the problems you are having there.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

I'm having a slight problem here, the guide says I should open internet explorer and go into the internet options, but each time I click on internet options it just minimizes it to the taskbar where it has all of the programs that are running on my computer, but when I hover over it with my cursor to click it, it just dissapears.
