BSOD after Malware removal

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Computer was recently infected with (what I believe) is Win32.Banker.FS - at least that's what the bogus security message screens indicate.

I ran a quick scan using Malwarebyte - it identified some issues that I quarantined (log below). Upon restart, the BSOD gives the following STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x80637421, 0xAC329988, 0x00000000). Have subsequently rerun Malware (after updating), which continues to find problems, even after quarantining, although the 0xAC329988 is replaced by 0xA2EBE988 (or 0xB6E8D988) in the BSOD error.

Attempts to install other programs (avira), as directed, have failed. I either receive a message that the administrator does not allow installation (understandable in safe mode), OR in the case of avira, windows update is running parallel and interfering with the installation.

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi Xixo,

I was unable to remove the MyWay assistant. I get a message:

c:\PROGR~1\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\descras.dll

Specified module could not be found.

The AV-CLS folder was created with a DOS-based file that came recommended for specifically removing the Win32.Banker.FS trojan that I believe I have. Found the program here:

http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-3685083.php

Followed all steps you outlined, and still cannot boot normally. The STOP codes I get now are:

Hi,

Let's proceed.

First,

OTM by Old Timer.

Please download from HERE and save to the desktop.

  • Double-click on OTM.exe.
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below.
    :processes
    :files
    C:\Program Files\MyWaySA
    :commands
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [reboot]
  • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved window (under the yellow bar, Code box into OTMoveIt3 (1).) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTM.

Note:

  • If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process.
  • If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
  • In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Hi Xixo,

My apologies for the delay, I've been traveling the last two days.

In response to your recent queries:

1. I have no idea what the NameServer entry is.

2. I followed your steps and still cannot boot normally (Stop code is now: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0x80637421,0xB6F7F9B8,0x00000000)

I did notice when I ran hijack this, one of the entries you asked me to tick off was not present:

Hi,

Let's try this.

First,

Check Disk (Fix).

  • Click on Start > Run....
  • Type this into the Run box:
    cmd /c chkdsk c: /F

    Please notice about the space.

  • You will get a message to schedule the volume to be checked in the next reboot.
  • Please answer Y.
  • Type exit to close the Command window.
  • Go to Start, Turn Off Computer and choose Restart
  • It will scan again and make the repairs as the first part of the reboot process.

It's possible that the chkdsk c: /F sequence may have to be run on reboot twice to pick up everything.

Next,

Check Disk.

  • Copy the code as below by highlight > right click > copy:
    cmd /c chkdsk c: |find /v "percent" >> "%userprofile%\desktop\checkhd.txt"

  • Click on start > Run....
  • Paste the code into the box and click OK.
  • A blank command window will open on your desktop, then close in a few minutes. This is normal.
  • Please post the contents of checkhd.txt (On the desktop).

Next,

Reboot into the Normal mode.

Have a try and let me know.

Next,

Checklist.

Please post.

  • Content of checkhd.txt
  • Result (boot into normal mode)

Most probably it related with hardware. Your return logs appear to be clean.
