Please Help! Error 702 (0, 53) & 723 (3, 0)

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm new to all this computer stuff so bear with me please! I am on my parents old PC, which has suddenly acquired a bunch of nasty malware over night. First I had the XP DEFENDER, which seems to have gone away after numerous attempts with various programs. I also have that stupid FIREFOX Link relocator thing, where all the google links I click send me to stupid ad sites. Then, none of my programs were opening (like Word) so I rebooted & it seems to be working again. I am trying to download Malwarebytes for my parents (who didn't even know that not having an anti-virus program would really damage their system) but I keep getting errors.

I took screenshots of the errors. It seems that everything is fine until the last like, 5 seconds of the installation and then I get the 702 (0, 53) error code (whatever the hell that means)... http://i39.tinypic.com/zy87t.jpg

Then, this error pops up, too after about the 3rd time the 702 error shows up... http://i42.tinypic.com/14417y0.jpg

Help! I've been up all day and night trying to do this so I can finish my finals for school. They're already super late because as soon as I was finishing up my final, the computer became obviously infected (somehow? pop up? I was unaware of the lack of anti-virus - I thought at LEAST norton was running but it wasn't).

Does anyone know what any of this crap means? I just want to be able to use this computer again!

Thanks.

Welcome ok computer -

:) --

I can list a few short fixes, but you will still have a badly infected system - You will not be working much on this tonight - Can you use another computer ??

As you are badly infected, we don't work on Malware removal or diagnostics in the general forums.

Please print out, read, and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. Sorry but the experts are a bit busy so you may have to wait a while -

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

Thank You -

EDIT - Also try to install Microsoft Security Essentials as a quick free Anti Virus - Forget the Norton -
