lsasse.exe Application Error Computer won't finish booting

This user had a similar problem, but it is closed and it said don't try this on your own computer http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=14952

That post had a fix using Avira AntiVir Rescue System the helper was called AdvancedSetup. Woluld this work for my situation?

PROBLEM: : While booting, computer gets just past the screen where the Windows XP logo comes up and the blue bar beneath it starts running. Then before the Desktop loads I get this ERROR MESSAGE- In the blue top of the window it said: lsass.exe
