Cannot download Malwarebytes, hijackthis (or any files), use firefox, no icons on desktop

Recommended Posts

I have inherited an PC with VISTA from a friend and I cannot download any files, nor even open firefox.

I have tried downloading Malwarebytes and renaming the files, but after I hit run I get an Error 5: Access is Denied. I don't have administrator rights to anything and there are many desktop files downloaded to the computer that I cannot remove.

I cannot access wireless networks, and I always get an error that says:

Location is not available.

C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is inserted properly, or that your are connected to the internet or your network, and then try again. If it can still not be located, the information might have been moved to another location.

Please help if you have any solutions.
