Unable to get Malwarebytes to start when windows start

Recommended Posts

I am testing the full version of Malwarebytes but for some reason I am not able to get the app to start when windows is started so protection is available. I removed the software and ran the mbam cleanup file, restart pc, and reinstalled Malwarebytes again. I don't see the icon in system tray and don't see the services listed when I open msconfig. I do have it running successfully on another machine.

Thanks,

B

The system tray icon is only available with the paid Pro version.

That is what I have. I can click on Start Protection under Protection tab, but when I restart windows I don't see Malwarebytes running and when I go to Protection tab the Start Protection button is enabled again that I can click on. I don't even see Malwarebytes or mbam listed under Services in Administrative Tools.

What Anti-Virus do you have? Have you setup file exclusions for it?

Do you have the "hide inactive icons" disabled so that you can see it?

Can you start a DOS prompt with Admin rights and run the following and post back the results

SC QUERYEX MBAMSERVICE

Hi Bluem -

If you have used the full MBAM clean app then you will need to re-enter and re-activate the license that you were sent for That Computer - The MBAM clean actually fully clears all records in your Malwarebytes history - Please copy and paste your License and Key codes that you were sent from Cleverbrige in the registration email - If you read the full cleanup details you will note that these need to be re-activated -

Thank You -

EDIT -

If you do think you are actually infected, then we don't work on detailed Malware removal or diagnostics in the general forums.

I am getting the following error if that helps

[OpenEvent] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code:2

This happen after few minutes upon clicking on Start Protection button. When I come back to Protection I notice Start Protection is enabled again.
