Problems removing "Virus Protector" - please help.

Recommended Posts

Hello. My wife's PC (windows xp) recently picked up the plague known as Virus Protector. As I am sure you know, this does fake scans, etc and alerts to fake viruses.

Anyways, I understand Malwarebytes should fix the problem...but how do I get to Malwarebytes? Everytime her computer is turned on (INCLUDING AFTER LOGGING ON IN "SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING") the Virus page appears and takes up the entire screen. I never see the Start Menu or any desktop icons.

To make matters worse, I can't even Control/Alt/Delete to get to task manager b/c I receive a message (do doubt caused by Virus Protector) saying "Task Manager Disabled by Administrator". In short, the only thing I can do on her PC at the moment is stare at these bogus virus warnings. Please help, this has rendered her pc absolutely useless. :)
