Error code: 703 (0,53)

Recommended Posts

My desktop was horribly infected with a nasty virus 3 weeks ago. The guys over at www.bleepingcomputer.com recommended your program, but I've been unable to run it on that machine. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...t&p=1633165

The first few times I ran it the virus was deleting mbam.exe and other files directly from the install folder. Shortly after the machine was nearly unusable, so I pulled the hard drive and virus scanned it in another machine. After this I was able to boot the machine. I removed some service entries with msconfig and cleaned the system with combofix. Now mbam still will not run, although the installer runs properly. There are no rogue security programs visible using process viewer.

This is the error I get after running the installer or running mbam.exe manually.

An error occurred. Please report the following error code to the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware suport team.

Error code: 703 (0,53)

Hello, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org

If your computer is un-bootable, just post a description of the problems you are having there.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

You can try the following first and see if it helps. If not then please do as requested and post in the HJT forum.

Please try this on the computer that is having an issue.

1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.

2. Restart your computer (very important).

3. Download and run this utility. mbam-clean.exe

4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).

5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. mbam-setup.exe

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray and that you can run a quick scan and all is working as expected.
