MALWAREBYTES WONT RUN...please help!!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I downloaded malwarebytes a while back on my lap top which is saved on my desk-top. I think I am infected somehow bacause I am unable to run malwarebytes and I am unable to get on the internet - I just keep getting a messages saying my computer is infected and it starts to automatically run some kind of scan - which then goes onto a payment page asking for my details!!

Anyway I have tried to run malwarebytes in safe mode and also from a cd but both will not run. Can anyone help please?

Thanks a lot

Lynsey

Hello Lynsey,

Do this to close the rogue window. Repeat as needed.

Use ALT+F4 keys to close those rogue pop-up windows. Press and hold the ALT key & then press F4 key.

If you cannot download using this system, use another system, do the downloads, and burn to CD/DVD or a clean (new) USB drive, and transport & place tools on Desktop of infected system.

See this sticky note in the Malware Removal sub-forum.

Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete.

Do as much as possible of the preliminaries (like getting and running DDS and GMER scans)

then follow the intructions,

posting copies of contents of logs from DDS & Gmer.

Skip the MBAM section. Do as much as possible of the rest.

Put your replies here in this thread. Do NOT use the attach option feature.

Always Copy & Paste contents of logs into the main body of reply-text-box.

It is critical we get a GMER log since that will give us details on this rootkit.
