Can't launch MWB, or any other virus protection...

Hi All,

I have been using MBW for some time now with great success, then...

Problem...

I can't launch any anti-virus software, or browse to any anti-virus sites, or search for anything that has an anti-virus name in the string. When I try to browse, the browser window closes.

I have created and run rescue discs for BitDefender and Kapersky, each have run, BitDefender found nothing, Kapersky finds something, deletes it. When I relaunch, same set of problems occur.

I have access to other uninfected computers to download software and install if required, but, I didn't want to start that until someone directed me to do so. I'm not an expert so I need to pay attention and go slow.
