malwarebytes.org website

Recommended Posts

Hi

Macafee did not find anything but I had a suspicious feeling that there was a bug in my PC after I received the "fake" Windows Security popup. After reading about the problem in Microsoft, I decided to download the free cersion of malwarebytes, which seemed to be popular among those who got the same fake popup.

I went to Malwarebytes.org via dogpile. Found the free version to download. But it did ask me to put it in the cart. Then it asked my name and email address - forgot if it did ask my telephone. Then I got the email from coupon@malwarebytes.org and with the coupon attached (I did not open it) and the link to download. At least it did not ask my creditcard, and the email indicated it was a free download. It came from Cleverbridge Customer Service. Funny I went to the Malwarebytes.org. I understand that Celeverbridge has some e-commerce contract with Malwarebytes though.

I downloaded the malwarebytes free version and it did find security.hijack and it removed it.

Now I am in my office, and went to the same malwarebytes.org and it did have the different look! And I could just click the download free version and got the program without giving away any of my personal info.

Both were malwarebytes.org. I am a bit worried with the fact that I had to put my address and name to download the free version before Malware found security.hijack.

Now do you have two diffrernt screens to malwarenytes.org??

Thank you for your help! After removing security.hijick through malwarebytes, everything is working fine as it seems.

It's rather upsetting that the security.hijack redirected malwarebytes.org to third-party website. Wonder the third-party paid for the virus.

Really appreciated your reply!
