Antivirus XP 2010 recurring problem

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am having a recurring problem with Antivirus XP 2010.

By following the instructions on this site, i was able to download and successfully run MBAM by changing the file extension to .com. This appeared to fix the problem and remove the issue from my pc. However, on a subsequent restart of my computer, the problem popped back up after I started internet explorer. After running MBAM a second time, one registry issue was resolved, and the problem seemed fixed. However, I am currently on my 4th removal of the same issue, so I think it is time to do something else.

I have no issues with it while running any other program on my computer. The issue only arises when I open internet explorer.

The issue that keeps showing up is the hijacked.exeFile problem.

This is what the MBAM log tells me:

Registry Data Items Infected:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\(default) (Hijacked.exeFile) -> Bad: (secfile) Good: (exefile) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

I'm not really great with my computer, so any detailed help would be greatly appreciated, and I am more than happy to pass along any more information needed from me. I have both MBAM and HijackThis installed and ready to go.

Thank you for your help.

Here, by the way, is the Hijackthis log that I took when last running MBAM to get rid of the issue this morning.
