location to paste rules.ref file in Vista?

Does anyone know if I can DL the latest definitions on an XP machine, then copy the rules.ref file to a Vista ultimate machine somewhere, thus updating? the documentsand settings\all users\application data folder is not on Vista. it is a 64 bit machine if that makes any difference.

This PC seems horribly infected as it won't connect to internet even with an IP and IE settings configured correctly. PLEASE HELP!

Yes you can. The rules are not OS dependent, the path though is different.
