Yes, any help by a professional would be greatly appreciated. It does not give me the error message everytime I shut down i.e. log off or restart my PC, but lately it is doing it a lot. What could be causing this problem. I use Windows XP SP2, Latest Internet Explorer. I have done all spyware, malware and anti-virus scans and hijack this, housecall etc. What keeps showing in Malwarebytes at every scan even though I have quarantined it 500 times it is still showing up at all scans. I always tell it to remove it, and it goes into the quarantined file and keeps showing up again. Is there any way to get rid of this permanently? Could this be causing the rundll.exe error message and problems I am having?

Registry Keys Infected:

Please help if someone knows what I can do to resolve this error message and get rid of the above. I can send the hijack this log file, but I don't think I am supposed to do that in this forum (newby)...Can u tell?

Thanks

Hi DeeDee

:)

Please do not color code your logs. I'm having a hard time reading them. Thank you... :)

Open Hijackthis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

O2 - BHO: AskBar BHO - {201f27d4-3704-41d6-89c1-aa35e39143ed} - C:\Program Files\AskBarDis\bar\bin\askBar.dll

Again, make sure ALL browser windows are closed when you click FIX.

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms diminish. Lack of symptoms does not always mean the job is complete.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by me or another helper.

  1. Download ComboFix from one of these locations:
    Link 1
    Link 2
    * IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop
  2. Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.
You can get help on disabling your protection programs here
  3. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  4. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.
    cfRC_screen_1.png
The Windows recovery console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode that allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement.
ComboFix will now automatically install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console onto your computer, which will show up as a new option when booting up your computer. Do not select the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console option when you start your computer unless requested to by a helper.
Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see a message that says:
The Recovery Console was successfully installed.
    cfRC_screen_2.png
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
  5. Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.
  6. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply
    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  7. Ensure your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications are re-enabled.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi I am DeeDee, :)

February 26, 2010

I am getting the following message at shut down/log off and sometimes at restarting my computer.

I had posted this error message wrong on or around the 19th of February: sorry for posting the wrong error message (this is actually the message I am getting - rundll32.exe is not responding

I have right clicked it in windows\system 32\rundll32.exe located and scanned it with Avast Anti-Virus and it is not detecting a virus.

Is this a possible Malware problem or do I need to post this somewhere else. As with the post I had put I was getting the error message rundll.exe was not responding, and was giving a long list of what to do's:

1. was to download Malwarebytes - I already have it and the latest version, and it picks up this adware.accoona everytime I do a Malware scan and I select to remove it and then the next time I scan it shows up again and it is a never ending process.

2. Was to make sure my Anti-Virus definitions were up to date, answer is yes. Whate Next? My real concern is the rundll32.exe error message mentioned above? I did print out the how to try to get rid of the adware.accoona (low level infection attached to a toolbar-Adware.Win32.Agent.b [kaspersky][/], as directed by one of the forum experts.

I have not done it yet, just copy/pasted the instructions in wordpad so I can print them out and try it, just really unsure if I should be doing it as I am not a techie per say. Could the corrected error message I am inputting now be affected by the same low level infection do to a toolbar being installed on my PC?

Thanks for any help from an expert would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks,

DeeDee
