Can't install Malwarebytes & Random Popups

Recommended Posts

Sorry that I'm posting again, it's been 48 hours and my computer still is infected!

Well, I started to get random pop-ups, asking me to install a Flash Player or something along those lines, and I knew it was malware so I tried to use it but it was unable to be found.

I tried to install it regularly, and got this error

"Unable to execute file mbam.exe

CreateProcess failed; code 2

The system cannot find the file specified."

Then I tried to install one of the randomly named set ups and got this error;

"Error code: 730 (0,0)"

I tried to follow the instructions as best as I could but the first time I tried scanning with GMER, it became un-responsive after a few minutes, and I had to close it, then the second time it was working but my computer screen went idle and I had to restart my computer because nothing was responding. So if it's really needed I can try scanning it a third time but I'm not so sure.

Just another little note, I scanned with Avira AntiVir, and I had 7 warnings, 5 were un-removeable but I had them for awhile now so I didn't worry about it, but the 2 two I'm not so sure about..

I get random pop-ups here and there if I visit a new or even old website that I been to, they are usually nothing bad but I't highly annoying!

Thank you for your time reading this and I hope my computer gets fixed. :)

Hi,

Please try this version of malwarebytes: Click the link here

Save it on your desktop. You'll see it will have a random name, and will look similar like this: mbamrandom.gif

Doubleclick on it, so it will extract the files and will start Malwarebytes automatically.

In case the installer (random named file) won't run either, rename it to EXPLORER.EXE and try again.

When Malwarebytes opens, click the "Update" tab FIRST and select to check for updates in order to get the latest updates.

In case Malwarebytes doesn't open, search for the folder mbam-installer on your desktop, open it and doubleclick the file winlogon.exe which will be present in there. This should launch Malwarebytes.

Then perform a scan and let it remove what it found. Reboot afterwards (important).

After reboot, post the malwarebytes log together with a new HijackThislog.

In case you're having problems with above instructions, let me know.

Hi,

* Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.

When I scanned with ComboFix it seemed fine so I left it scanning, and when I came back my computer restarted or something, and I found a ComboFix.txt in the folder so I'm guessing it's the log, but it seems kind of short.

If it's not supposed to be like that I can run another scan for you.

I'll put the Hijack This log you asked for here too.

Hi,

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.

Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::

c:\windows\system32\hobokuzu.dll

c:\windows\system32\tepidike.dll

c:\windows\system32\yezoyihu.dll

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

CFScript.gif

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply.

Hi,

This looks OK again.

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /Uninstall

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /

Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

Glad I could help. :)

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.

And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.

Extra note: Make sure your programs are up to date - because older versions may contain Security Leaks. To find out what programs need to be updated, please run the Secunia Software Inspector Scan.

Happy Surfing again!

Sorry again but I have another quick question, I'm running the Secunia Software Inspector scan, and it's scanning the C:\System Volume Information area's and my Avira is giving me dectections about

C:\SystemVolume Information\...\A0028807.dll for being a TR/Monder.czoe Trojan, should I be concered and just quarantine it?

Hi,

This is a leftover in your system restore points. This is normal that you have this after being infected. You can have Avira clean it, or you can flush your system restore points instead.

To do this, you have to disable systemrestore and enable it afterwards again.

(note: this will delete all your system restore points and malware that were present in it).

How to disable system restore in XP <= click me for instructions with screenshots

After you disabled System Restore.... Reboot.. and after rebooting, enable it again, so a new systemrestorepoint will be made. A clean one now! :)
