Can't remove the Right Click / Context menu entry!

Recommended Posts

As simple as it sounds, I can't make Malwarebytes entry on my right click menu to go away!

The box is properly unchecked on the settings and I have already restarted the computer twice and it still remains.

Thanks for any help provided.

Forgot to add that I am on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate :)

Thanks.

*ps. no edit button sucks :)

Hello *711

It can be a PITA working with new OS. There other methods that can use but I prefer this way. :)

The easiest and old fashion method I used to remove Malwarebytes (plus other programs) from the Context Menu in W7 pro-x64 bit is to:

  • Uncheck the 'Create right click menu to scan files(context menu) box in the Settings menu.
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes and then Reinstall Malwarebytes.
  • Follow the install prompts up to Select Additional Task
  • Check the Create a Desktop icon box.
Quick Lanunch icon doesnt appear in the Task bar
  • Complete and finish the install.
  • Placing the Malwarebytes icon in the Taskbar
  • Unlock the Taskbar
  • Drag/Drop the Malwarebytes icon from the Desktop to the Taskbar
  • Lock the Taskbar.

Malwarebytes should now be removed from the Context menu

Oo

Well... I am a bit astonished actually.

I was trying to prevent having to forcefully remove the key from "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Shell Extension for Malware scanning" but apparently its A LOT easier than your workaround so it will do till the next version arrives ><

Thanks for the reply tho, no idea how you discovered it in the first place btw ^^

And tkz "setup" for the heads up.

Also... I restored my quick launch bar to use it to place the Bin, pretty nifty! I don't use it for anything else though since the superbar is awesome.
