unknown malicious IP blocked, but no malware found in scan

Hi,

My protection module keeps coming up with the message: Malicious IP blocked 58.65.47.206 every so often

However, I have no idea what IP this is, and when I looked it up on the internet it seemed to be from somewhere in Japan...

Also when I ran full scans using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Mcafee, and Ccleaner, nothing was found. Obviously it's being blocked now, but if I ever de-activate the module I'm worried it's gonna screw up my computer. Is there anything I can do? Is it wise to restart my computer or use last functioning settings? Also at the moment I'm somewhere I can't update my malwarebytes because I need to go through a proxy to connect to the internet here.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Do you still need help?

Hi, my system is completely fine now (i think), I've had help from another moderator and a friend. BUT one thing is that although spybot which i downloaded removed quite a lot of spyware, which was probably contacting that IP, I can't reactivate my malwarebytes IP blocker from the icon at the bottom right of the screen. Is there any other way of re-activating it?

Thanks

Hi,

My apologies for the delay.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling MBAM. You should be able to reactive the IP protection then.

Hi,

Sorry, I didn't mention I'd already tried that! Basically another moderator on the forum suggested I download a beta version and see if that worked.

I downloaded the beta that was suggested to me by support, and reinstalled the new version after uninstalling the old one. The protection module activated but only for a couple of seconds. I did this a couple of times, and also used mbam-clean when I had uninstalled it before reinstalling the beta. There's a protection log i noticed which shows that it failed to load and gives an error code. It says: 15:46:26 Tom ERROR IP protection failed: FwpmEngineOpen0 failed with error code 1753

What is this code and does it give you a better idea for what's wrong?

Thanks

Hi,

Version 1.45 of MBAM has officially been released, so please uninstall the beta you are using and install the latest version. Then, update the database, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post the one that is not minimized.
