XP Antivirus Pro 2010

Recommended Posts

So, I've been trying to get rid of XP Antivirus Pro 2010 ALL DAY LONG. I've downloaded Malwarebytes, renamed it, run in safe mode... Any time I try to install it av.exe starts up. This is definitely the problem. I went to http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...amp;#entry35969 and I do not have TDSSserv.sys. I am STRUGGLING, haha. And, this is sad because I'm fairly tech savvy and have NO IDEA how this got onto my computer. Please, help! Here's my HijackThis report. I see av.exe in there, but everytime I close it, it just pops back up.

Great! Let me know how it turned out. ;)

(I assume/hope you updated before you ran the scan?)

Hi,

I have the same problem.

At first I couldn't install mbam but I used an external flash drive to install it and it is working fne. However, it will not update and I am getting the error message 732 (12029, 0). I went into IE and changed the connection settings to 'automatically detect settings' and this made no real difference except that now it was at least attempting to access the server first.

Still no joy, ready to tear my hair out.

I usually use adaware and AVG pro but both of these are not working at all now.

Thanks,

Gearod

Hi Gearod, please start your own thread with your problem, because this is confusing if different people post in one thread.

For your case, you may want to look here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=39312

Thanks. It's sorted. Used suggestions in another thread which allowed me to open AVG (using Fixexe) and stop the firewall. mbam updated and running now. Hopefully will get rid of this bloody virus.
