Malware Causing Malwarebytes to crash?

Recommended Posts

I am clueless when it comes to this stuff.

For a while now, I haven't been able to use Google or Yahoo to search on anything. It just displays "Done" at the bottom of the page but shows no results. People say I have malware, and people with similar problems downloaded Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and fixed the problem.

I downloaded the program and when I try to scan my computer it just closes. When I try to re-open the program, I get the following error:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

I believe I had similar problems with other anti-malware scanners as well. Any ideas?? I tried creating a HijackThis log and I get the exact same problem. Really don't want to have to fry my computer again.

Hi mcflytrap and welcome to forums at Malwarebytes,

Pls try the following solution:

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=29028

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

No go. Malwarebytes would acdtually install just fine and open. But about 3 seconds into a scan, it will shut off and never allow to be opened again (getting the error I mentioned in the first e-mail).

I'm current running a Win32kdiag log to post (can't do Hijack This as I get the same problem).

mcflytrap,

I think it's better to seek assistance from the Malware Removal forum.

We don't work on Malware removal or diagnostics in the general forums.

Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

Please note that it may take 72 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 72 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help.

If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you.

Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read.

Alternatively, you may email support@malwarebytes.org for assistance.
