PatG Posted February 20, 2010 ID:203265 Share Posted February 20, 2010 OK Guys, I'm the newbie 72 yr old just joined today, purchased late Thursday night. This morning, it took 3 tries to boot up XP SP3 where there has been no problems before. Today same thing. Went in Safe Mode, then into Event Viewer, nothing there. But I found it in "Tune Up Program" under the same heading. EVERY time computer had hung (by date and time) the properties pointed to MWB. So I uninstalled, ran all kinds of trash cleaners and rebooted. TA DA! No problem. This is the error I received:Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: TuneUp Program StatisticsEvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 768Date: 2/20/10Time: 3:06:08 PMUser: N/AComputer: BLACKBEAUTYDescription:SQL Error: near "anti": syntax error; when executing SQL: INSERT INTO ActiveApps (Started, Exe, ProcID, Resumed) VALUES ('2010-02-20 15:06:08', '\device\harddiskvolume1\program files\malwarebytes' anti-malware\mbamservice.exe','2144',0)Need to reinstall, but want to see if someone can tell me why this is happening. Root Admin RubbeR DuckY Posted February 20, 2010 Root Admin ID:203271 Share Posted February 20, 2010 It appears that TuneUp utilities are unable to handle the apostrophe in our path name. I will see if I can get in touch with TuneUp with this -- but it doesn't appear to be an issue we caused.

whatmeworry? Posted February 21, 2010 ID:203363 Share Posted February 21, 2010 PatG, just an added thought: what other security software (e.g., antivirus, firewall) are you using? You may have to add some of MBAM's files in the "exclusions" section of the other security programs so they don't clash with MBAM. For more info, see http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=10138, especially section E and those that follow. Adding these exclusions helped me deal with some serious problems at bootup. Also, especially on WinXP, it often helps to delay MBAM at startup. In fact, if I remember correctly, in Windows 7, a delay is built into MBAM's startup. I found that delaying MBAM by a minute or two helped a lot on XP. I used WinPatrol to set the delayed startup.I don't know whether either of these issues is relevant to your bootup problem, but I thought I'd mention them just in case. Luckily I have an image that was created yesterday before MBAM was installed. Now receiving the error: SQL Error: near "anti": syntax error; when executing SQL: INSERT INTO ActiveApps (Started, Exe, ProcID, Resumed) VALUES ('2010-02-20 20:07:48', '\device\harddiskvolume1\program files\malwarebytes' anti-malware\mbamservice.exe','2132',0)Frankly, I'm very tired of fighting this for two whole days. Think the best solution for me is to write support and ask for a refund. Having a war over software just isn't worth it to me. Thanks for the replies.
