Antivirus Soft - Post-problem

Hello!

Yesterday morning I got Antivirus Soft. Thanks to Malware, I succeed to remove it (or at least I think so). Did full scan in safe mode + networking, deleted the infected and restarted. After the restart the antivirus soft doesn't appear, network is ok, but ONLY with IE. Skype is functioning without problems also. I have FireFox and Chrome, but they are not working - not loading the pages, Google Chrome doesn't even load the start tabs with the most visited pages. I checked again the Internet Options, but there's no proxy checked, no evident traces from the virus. I apologize to not giving the HiJackThis Log, but the infected PC is not here with me, I can attach it this evening.

Hi,

I can't see anything strange here, except for that fact that you have multiple Antivirus installed, which may indeed cause extra problems with browsers.

So, first of all, uninstall Avast or uninstall Norton/Symantec. Eventually, uninstall both and see if that solves your problem. You can always reinstall one afterwards again.

I uninstall both, also chrome. Reinstalled chrome - nothing changes, reinstalled also avast - nothing.

Please do me a favour and temporary uninstall Symantec as well.

Then, when done, and after reboot, post a new HijackThis log so I can verify.

The reason why i'm asking this is because I want to eliminate potential causes first.. otherwise it's more difficult to troubleshoot.

Yes, the problem is only with chrome. It stopped working on the morning when I got the Antivirus Soft. I am not using IE, and the Firefox was working without problems. I also deleted some reg keys , that MBAM didn't delete

Hi,

If it's only Google chrome, then it's an issue/setting with google chrome itself. I guess it's related with your proxy settings in there since the malware you were dealing with altered this..

Hi,

No, it's just a setting in your chrome as I already explained in my previous post. The malware you were dealing with changes proxysettings, so you need to adjust that again in your google chrome.

See the link I posted where users were having the same.

Mieke , I've tried also command line and the automated script ( i really don't have one ) - nothing.

Well, seems I have to contact Chrome support, but thank you guys, finally it works.

I followed http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=22082

command line with --no-sandbox - works fine

there's also developer version of chrome, that works like a magic.
