erik is a phantom Posted February 18, 2010 ID:201698 Share Posted February 18, 2010 I recently started using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and I try to update it often. Lately I've been trying to update the program and Error Code 732 (12029, 0) keeps appearing. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

noknojon Posted February 18, 2010 ID:201732 Share Posted February 18, 2010 Hi wileye - Is there any other codes listed after the 732 as this can refer to other problems - (12029) / (12007) or other -Also please list your anti virus and O/S (XP /Vista)Thanks -
Maurice Naggar Posted February 18, 2010 ID:201749 Share Posted February 18, 2010 @wileyeActually you had the right settings to start with. Go back and restore as follows:Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections Tab Click on LAN Settings > * Uncheck* the Automatically detect settings. Make sure _no other_ settings on this screen are enabledApply the changes & OK as needed. Are the '732' exception persistent?I recall having one occasion getting a 732. Exiting MBAM and waiting a few minutes, then retrying again worked. That has convinced me that sometimes this is a transient issue.I'd even suggest a logoff and restart in between retries. stevecham Posted February 18, 2010 ID:201787 Share Posted February 18, 2010 I have been using Malwarebytes' Anti Malware for about 2 years and I also have got the code today. I updated to the new January version as well as a February 15th update. I do it almost 3 times a week but got the error code today (2/18) 732 (12029,0) with operating system Windows XP SP3. This is very strange as I have never gotten this error code in the 2 years of using this great product.
noknojon Posted February 18, 2010 ID:201788 Share Posted February 18, 2010 Hi stevecham -The error message usually relates to lack of internet connection or after an infection your settings may change or if you add an extra firewall -Please do the following to see if it corrects it:Step 1: Verify Internet Connectivity of Internet Explorer:Backup the Registry:Modifying the Registry can create unforeseen problems, so it always wise to create a backup before doing so.Please download ERUNT from hereERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.Double click on erunt-setup.exe to Install ERUNT by following the prompts.Use the default install settings but say NO to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the Start-Up folder. You can enable this option later if you wish.Start ERUNT either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup process. Choose a location for the backup. Note: the default location is C:\Windows\ERDNT which is acceptable.[*]Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are selected.[*]Click on OK[*]Then click on YES to create the folder.Note: if it is necessary to restore the registry, open the backup folder and start ERDNT.exeOnce you've done your backup, please do the following:Click on Start and select RunIn the Run box copy and paste the text in the following code box exactly as written and press Enter or click on OK:REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /fTry updating again and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 2Step 2: Exclude Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware's Files and Folders From Other Active Security Programs:For Windows XP:C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dllC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dllC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dllC:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.refC:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sysC:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sysNote: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as wellThe FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products. Now try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware once more and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 3Step 3: Verify Your Internet Connection Settings:Open Internet Explorer Note: It MUST be Internet Explorer, not Firefox, Opera, Chrome or any other internet browser[*]Click on Tools at the top and select Internet Options Note: If you do not see Tools, press the Alt key on your keyboard and it will show up[*]Click on the Connections tab[*]Click on the LAN settings button[*]Under Automatic configuration make sure that the box next to Automatically detect settings is checked, if it is not, then click the box next to it to check it[*]Under Proxy server make sure that the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections). is not checked and if it is, click the box next to it to uncheck it[*]Click on the OK button to close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window[*]Click on the OK button to close the Internet Options window[*]Try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again to see if it now works correctly -THIS will show you the last steps -Thank You -
stevecham Posted February 18, 2010 ID:201883 Share Posted February 18, 2010 noknojon,Thank you for your quick response...Method number 3 worked for me as I use firefox and was trying to do method number 3 per someone else's instructions and didn't realize you needed to be in Internet Explorer. I did get a nasty virus last night that popped out of nowhere, however Malwarebytes' quickly took care of it.Thanks.
