I'm attempting to move from the free version to the paid version and having difficulty getting it to run (the service that is). I've tried the instructions posted about removing it completely w/ mbam-clean.exe and reinstalling. I've done that several times w/ AV off, disabled, etc and I keep getting the same error when I attempt to enable the real time protection. The machine is a Windows 2003 server and is running Norton AV Corporate 8.0

MBAMService terminated unexpectedly: see Event Log for details

I've been looking in the regular windows Event viewer and finding nothing so I'm probably not looking at the right Event Log.

The program runs fine in regular standalone mode, but I need the protection in place as well (otherwise this was a waste of $25).

Thanks for any help I can get...

Robert

Hello Robert,

See what Event Viewer has in it's log. Select Start button/ select Run , then type in

eventvwr.msc<enter>

-- or Go to Start menu, then select Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.

Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings that match the time the event occurred.

Double click---the information "may" give a clue.

Also, as a paying customer, you can contact the MBAM help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

The machine is a Windows 2003 server and is running Norton AV Corporate 8.0

Hello Robert,

May I ask why you're running Server 2003. That is not a typical home user operating system which costs almost $1,000 for the Standard version, and Symantec Corporate 8.0 (now beyond end of life) is also not a home user product. If this is a business then your not using the right licensing model for the program as the consumer version is only for home users. You need to contact corporate@malwarebytes.org to obtain proper licensing for a business.

Please export out the following key and post the result back here though and I'll take a look.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup

SystemPartition

Thank you.
