Cannot get rid of Security Antivirus

Recommended Posts

Trying to help some folks out here at a local daycare. They have 4 computers setup that all had been infected with Security Antivirus. So far, I've been able to clean it off the rest of them, but one computer it just continually re-installs itself everytime the computer re-boots.

Also, I've put MBAM pro on their machines and even on one of the clean ones it's contstantly popping up that it has blocked access to 94.228.209.244. The one that is still infected is continually blocking 91.207.192.25.

Any ideas or suggestions? Is the one that is continually blocking 94.228.209.244 but showing no signs of Security Antivirus still infected with something?

Ok, figured out that the host file on the first computer is still bad even though the computer itself is cleaned up. So, common requests to get to ok sites are being re-directed to malicious sites and causing the alerts. Working on deleting that now, so I think it's just this last computer having the issue.

I'm cleaning it off again and going to run an Avast boot-time scan. Any other suggestions?

Hi DCBnG and welcome to forums at Malwarebytes,

There is a self-help guide for Security Antivirus:

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=40021

Hope this helps.

Thanks, tried that a few times on the machine in question. Just won't come off, somewhere there is a file that is making it re-install and I just haven't been able to find it yet.
