To remove MBAM so that I can use it in a new pc I'm supposed to uninstall, restart the pc then download and run

MBAM-clean.exe.

But MBAM-clean.exe will not run.

I get a pop up stating -SHGet value failed with error code 126.

I'm hopefully setting up a new pc this weekend and have no intention of re-installing MBAM on this pc.

What do I need to do.

Thanks.

Greetings Hugger and welcome to Malwarebytes :)

Please create the following batch file and use it to remove the Malwarebytes' Registration info:

Note: If you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator or it will not work.

  • Please copy and paste the following text in the Code box exactly as written into notepad (not wordpad or any other text editor):
    @echo off
    if exist "%windir%\syswow64" reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware"
if not exist "%windir%\syswow64" reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware"
    del /f /q %0

  • Once you've done that click on File and select Save As...
  • In the Save dialogue box click on the drop down menu next to Save as type and select All Files
  • Name the file Clean.bat (the .bat extension is very important)
  • Save the file to your desktop and double click it to run it. Note: For Vista and 7, right click the file and select Run as administrator.

If you need anything else please post.

Thanks :)

Exile 360,

Thanks for the help.

I've done as you outlined and what I saw happen was a brief 'flash' of a window appear then disappear.

I'm guessing that that is what was supposed to happen?

I use Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on this pc.

Thanks.

Yes, but please refer to my post again by refreshing this web page. I made a typo in my previous response (no worries, the typo will do no harm but it won't delete the registration info either :)).

You'll need to recreate the file as it appears in the code box now so that it works properly.

OK.

I've done it per your instructions and still only see the 'flash' window open and close so quickly that I can't even see it as anything other than a blip.

I hope this is what you expect to happen.

Thanks.

As long as you ran it using Run As Administrator it should have done the job. Launch MBAM and it should no longer be registered and the protection module should no longer load when you restart the computer.

I uninstalled MBAM from my pc before doing the Clean.bat routine.

I hope to be installing W7 64 bit this weekend.

Thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm installing security programs tonight and went to the MBAM site to download the paid version.

It wants all my info again, including cc numbers.

This doesn't make any sense to me.

How can I download the paid version and enter the code so that I can use it?

Thanks.
