I am exausted and cant remember everything Ive been having trouble with tonight cuz its so much. But my main thing is that when I try to Activate my Windows XP, it tells me the Product Key is incorrect. Ive tried to use both of the keys that are on the sticker. I know this is not a pirated version. It came from a reliable source(family member) who has used it on her comp successfully. What to do now?

Greetings :)

Unfortunately you can only use a Product Key on the computer that it came with, it cannot be activated on any other hardware. Windows is licensed for a single PC only so you'll have to purchase a copy of Windows from a legitimate source. Currently Microsoft offers a special discount for users of non-validated copies of Windows. Please see this page for details.

Hi -

First there should only be one sticker on the side of the computer unless it has "illegal stickers" on it, or advertising stickers - Not other codes -

Ive tried to use both of the keys that are on the sticker.

You enter this, then contact M/soft within 30 days, and they give you the actual activation code - You are "pirateing" a copy from a family member -

That is why it will not work - If it has been turned off for a year or so the original key will still be entered in the competer -

Is the CD the original or is that also pirated ??

Thank You - :)

EDIT - Please post back if any of the statements I have made are totally wrong - I can only then help you -

I think this is the issue:

It came from a reliable source(family member) who has used it on her comp successfully.
That product key has already been activated on another machine.
