antivirus 2010 post removal problems

i have removed the antivirus 2010 malware from my computer using malwarebytes. The malware is now completley removed, however, many unexplained problems are now occurring as a result. Firstly, upon start up, my antivirus software and other icons do not appear in the task bar. Secondly, when opening a program, a window appears saying "choose the program you want to use to open this file" . Finally, when opening certain programs, i am told that the application selected does not exist. I am completley stumped by this and have spent ages trying to find a solution, if anyone has had similar/the same problems can you please help.
