When I boot XP, the desktop background appears but no desktop icons and no taskbar or start menu.

I can run other applications through the task manager. But Malware Bytes won't run and either will Avira scan. So I'm guessing I have a virus??

I can boot into safe mode normally. I ran Malware Bytes and Avira virus scan in safe mode. Avira found one .ini file, but that's it.

Hi,

I don't see anything malicious here though..

I have the feeling that it is your Online armor causing these issues. Probably badly configured and blocking run references and other references you have not told it to allow yet (highest security settings/whatever).

The fact that you also have Teatimer running in the background may cause these extra issues as well since both are actually doing the same and monitor the same startup references.

So what I suggest is, temporary uninstall Online Armor, and disable Teatimer ( How to disable TeaTimer ), then reboot.

Let me know if that resolves the problem.

You can reinstall it afterwards again, but first we need to make sure if the problem still exists when Online armor is uninstalled.

Extra note,

Hi,

Thanks for the file..

I should mention that I did install lame.exe to do mp3 ripping
Yes, I already figured out that lame.exe was related with some mp3 ripping software after I analysed the file :)

Good to hear your system is working again. You can try to reinstall Online Armor again though. Just make sure you don't block things in there you're not supposed to block. :)
