I was having browser pop ups, that were obviously not coming from the browser. So I tried to install malwarebytes, but I kept having the 'mbam.exe error, would you like to Browse for the file yourself' crap. So I then reinstalled and watched the folder, and it turns out the installer was correctly installing it, but it was being deleted, shortly after it was placed into the folder. I have a feeling the Trojan I had on my computer was actually deleting it as it installed.

The FIX (at least for me) was to watch the installation folder as Malwarebytes is being installed and wait for the mbam.exe to appear. Quickly Ctrl + Drag the file to create a copy and wait. The original will be deleted by the infection (in my case Trojan.Vundo.H) and then after completing the setup for Malwarebytes, rename the copy of mbam.exe to 'mbam.exe' and everything was fine. I ran Malwarebytes successfully and removed the Trojan.

Good luck all.
