Backdoor.bot and Malware.trace won't go away

Friend brought computer to me with Paladin Anti-Virus Malware on it. Installed and ran rkill and MalwareBytes and removed everything found. Upon reboot Backdoor.bot and Malware.trace were back when checked with MalwareBytes. Ran both Full and Quick scans as admin user and in Safe Mode, malware back upon reboot always. Also ran SuperAntiSpyware, CCleaner, ATF Cleaner and ComboFix, always have the malware back upon reboot. Attached is a HijackThis log after the latest reboot, can someone point me in the right direction?

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

• Viewpoint
  
• Viewpoint Manager
  
• Viewpoint Media Player
  

Then, Please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion may be outdated:

• Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  
• Once the updates are downloaded, perform a quick scan again.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

OK, I removed the ViewPoint stuff, updated MalWare Bytes, ran a Quick Scan, selected everything found and removed it, it did ask for a reboot which I did and then ran HiJack This. Here are the logs:

I've run ComboFix on this machine and while I can disable AVG there is some remnant of McAfee on there that I cannot find and ComboFix complains about. There is no MacAfee in the Add/Remove Programs and there is no MacAfee folder in the Programs folder.

Just ignore the warning then and let Combofix proceed. It may be just some components of McAfee registered in WMI. Nothing to worry about/no big deal. It won't interfere with the scan

Small change of plans here...when I got home ComboFix had frozen the PC and I had to hard boot it. * Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Then Update your Sun Java, because previous versions are vulnerable:

Updating Java:

• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.
  
• Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
  It should have next icon next to it:
  Select it and click Remove.
  
• Then Download and install the newest version from here:
  
  http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
  

Then rescan once again with malwarebytes, let it remove what it is finding and let me know how things are now.

I think I am good to go, let me know what you think. I started the machine up and did 2 runs of MalwareBytes to clean everything, made the deletions you suggested with HiJack This and updated Java. Upon reboot I scanned again with MalWareBytes and it found one AdWare problem but I'm hoping that was just because I forgot to reactivate AVG, I removed it via MalWareBytes, scan below, and the next scan was clean. I've also attached a final HiJack This log.
