Hi,

I see you are running Teatimer.

I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system.

When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.

If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.

How to disable TeaTimer <== click me for instructions.

After you disabled Teatimer, download ResetTeaTimer.exe to your desktop.

Then run ResetTeaTimer.exe.

This will only take a few seconds.

The same applies for Windows Defender..

The real-time protection may interfere with the fixes, that's why I want you to turn it off.

To turn real-time protection off

Open Windows Defender. (Click Start, click Programs, and then click Windows Defender.)

Click Tools, and then click General Settings.

Under Real-time protection options, Uncheck the Turn on real-time protection (recommended) check box.

Then click Save.

When we are done with everything, you can enable it again.

Then... First of all, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion is outdated.

• Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  
• Once the updates are downloaded, perform a quick scan again.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.
  

Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

Normally it shouldn't return anymore..

I rebooted and ran Malwarebytes, Housecall, Spybot, and Bitdefender and they all came back clean.

Thanks so much for your help. Is there a time frame that i have to wait before asking for help again, Im afraid that my laptop has the same issues since my nephew used both computers. I didnt even know that I had a problem until I tried to download and run Malwarebytes and it wouldnt let me run the setup, thats when I found this forum. Then all heck broke loose.

Should I keep the random name of the Malwarebytes program to be safe? Is spybot teasipper really good, or should i stick with MS Defender now that I can do the updates (apparently whatever was on my system was stopping me from updating my MS)?

Spybot Teatimer is good if you know how to work with it. It monitors the main startup keys in the registry and gives a warning, whether it is malware or a legitimate program. So in a lot of cases, people tell to let teatimer block it, while some startup references shouldn't be blocked. And that's what also happened here... Malwarebytes wanted to delete a malicious startup key, but teatimer saw the removal of it as a "malicious" attempt and blocked it again, so that explains why malwarebytes detected it everytime again since the removal was blocked/reversed by Teatimer.

It's not really needed to keep the renamed version of malwarebytes. You can also teweak this yourself. For example, when Malwarebytes won't run or install, just rename the installer to firefox.exe or svchost.exe

You can do the same for the main executable of malwarebytes, named mbam.exe present in the Program Files\malwarebytes' anti-malware folder. Just rename as well to firefox.exe or svchost.exe

You can post the malwarebytes log here as well from your nephews computer, together with a HijackThislog.

I will need to start the process of scanning my laptop. My nephews laptop is a whole other story, they get a laptop from school and he is saying someone logged on to their network with a virus and it hit everyone. Once I am done with my stuff I'll look at his, since I dont think the school has any clue.
