I saw the description for this section of the forum says: "Here you can add your comments and suggestions to improve this site and/or posts your thanks. All comments are welcome."

I scanned through the first page and can't believe I don't see any threads saying "thank you malwarebytes", so I'll start one right now.

I've been using malwarebytes for a bit over a year I think. I first tried it after getting a nasty virus and a friend recommended malwarebytes. It found the virus (or whatever it was) right away, along with a bunch of other questionable stuff on my computer. And it has found several things since then.

I guess the big lesson to me is that you can get viruses just by surfing the internet without downloading anything. Pretty scary, and I'm sure a lot of people don't know that.

Anyway, I just wanted to say THANKS and MALWAREBYTES ROCKS! I recommend it to other people all the time.

Hi Malware-Bytes-Fan and welcome to malwarebytes!

I'm very glad things have worked out for you! Malwarebytes' is an incredibly helpful and valuable software. Also just curious what anti-virus are you using? Mainly I'm asking is there is a lot of confusion with the term anti-virus and anti-malware. Malwarebytes' is designed to compliment your existing security and back you up when you av fails.

I used to use AVG, and swore by it for years. Then I got the virus (or at least malware that kept opening browsers to different sites) and malwarebytes took care of it. I then switched to AVAST and now use it, and am very happy with it. I left AVG on a second computer, until a virus got past on that one too, and now it also has AVAST.

I understand that viruses and malware are a little different, so forgive me if I just say I got a virus. :)

Anyway, I run AVAST all the time and do manual scans with malwarebytes.

No problem. That is a common misunderstanding that many get mixed up. Originally I did not know ether. Well at least you have an anti-virus. Also do you have the free or paid version of malwarebytes'? Mainly the reason is that the new 5.0 version of Avast! has been having conflicts with malwarebytes' protection module. The issues are blue screens, computer locks up and I think some others. If you have it you can disable malwarebytes' from starting up on startup which in return turns off the protection module.

I have AVAST 4.8. I think I remember reading somewhere that AVAST 5.0 was buggy, so I'm in no hurry to "upgrade". I always have AVAST running, but I only run malware manually and only on occasion. Not sure how often I should run it, but these days I seldom find anything with it. I think (knock on wood) that AVAST is doing a good job.

Well at least if everything is running good then there is no point in fixing something that ain't broke.

hey buttons, I've got more than enough things that don't work that keep me busy, so I live by the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." :) Thanks for all your input!
