False Registry Keys Reported

Recommended Posts

Hi, I work in a computer repair shop, and we use Malwarebytes on a regular basis.

I just ran into a weird problem on a customer machine. Malwarebytes reports 1695 infected registry keys. I tried to remove them normally, malwarebytes rebooted the machine. I ran another scan for good measure and all the keys were still listed. At first i thought registry permission problems were keeping them from being deleted, but i repaired the permissions and I am still getting the same results.

Here is where it gets realy weird: if you actually open regedit and browse to the keys Malwarebytes is listing, they simply do not exist...any ideas? If they keys are not in the registry then how is malwarebytes reporting them?
