Hi,

Please try this version of malwarebytes: Click the link here

Save it on your desktop. You'll see it will have a random name, and will look similar like this: mbamrandom.gif

Doubleclick on it, so it will extract the files and will start Malwarebytes automatically.

In case the installer (random named file) won't run either, rename it to EXPLORER.EXE and try again.

When Malwarebytes opens, click the "Update" tab FIRST and select to check for updates in order to get the latest updates.

In case Malwarebytes doesn't open, search for the folder mbam-installer on your desktop, open it and doubleclick the file winlogon.exe which will be present in there. This should launch Malwarebytes.

Then perform a scan and let it remove what it found. Reboot afterwards (important).

After reboot, post the malwarebytes log together with a new HijackThislog.

In case you're having problems with above instructions, let me know.

Hi,

I did just as you suggested. I was able to run MBAM. As indicated I allowed MBAM delete the items it found. There were 21. See attached log.

I then rebooted. Reran the HijackThis and attached is that file. I have not recieved the pop ups as before but it will not allow me to run MBAM from it's own icon. I have to reinstall from the file you had me download each time to run MBAM. Still not sure my machine is void of all of the offending files. Would you suggest I run another full scan on MBAM??

You help is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!!!

Hi,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)

O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {ff096e82-037a-4d25-bb2d-dceb463db717} - (no file)

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: wakepule.dll c:\windows\system32\pufidihu.dll

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

I have not recieved the pop ups as before but it will not allow me to run MBAM from it's own icon.
That is normal, because the main exe is missing.

Just reinstall the main version from Malwarebytes again:

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

OK, not sure, but seems like this might have taken care of it? How would I know? I can now run MBAM. This was the last log report from the "quick scan". I allowed MBAM to disinfect this one item.

Need I do more?

You help is VERY much appreciated. Certainly will give SERIOUS consideration to purchasing and paying for MBAM....rather than just the free copy. You folks are awesome!!

Hi,

Well, this looks OK again :)

Need I do more?
Yes, make sure that this won't happen again :) ...So Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.

And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.

Extra note: Make sure your programs are up to date - because older versions may contain Security Leaks. To find out what programs need to be updated, please run the Secunia Software Inspector Scan.

Happy Surfing again!
