Note the version of the program also. This was when MBAM was first released to the public. Whole lot has gone on since then. Seven new versions and I wouldn't have any idea how many definition updates.

We will not be adding legacy defs just to make pointless come out well .

I would hope that they would be added if they are still capable of infecting a system. Granted if other anti spyware tools detect most of them, then it's not a big deal, but at the same time anything that could still infect a computer should not be scoffed at just because it is old.

Old as in the vectors of infection for these samples no longer exists . There is nothing that a user could do to come into contact with them . The only way to get infected by these would be to download an old malware archive and install them .

Our users need to be protected from what they will be seeing today , not 7 years ago .

The other reason I will not be adding all of these dead samples is that I have always had huge problems with the dishonest practices of other antimalware companies . Having 500,000 defs and showing that you can completely remove malware no one can catch any more as an advertising tool is complete BS if you detect none of todays malware .
